In May of 2010, Paige and I hiked the Kalalau Trail. The Northwest coast of Kauai (Na Pali) is one of the most ravishingly beautiful places on the planet. My pictures do no justice to the beauty of land. The beach itself is pristine and well worth the strenuous and steep 11 mile hike. You should be forewarned, however, that the hike is not for those who fear heights. Fall, winter, summer and spring are all great times to hike the trail, but beware of the possibility of extended periods of heavy rain, especially during winter months. Humpback whales can also be seen and heard often from the shoreline in winter and early spring. This trail is one of my favorites.
